2 ACC Wins worth noting

We do what we do because employers are not well looked after in the ACC space.

Regardless of size and might, most employers need a hand when it comes to the ACC risk as it is such a specialist field. This covers both levies and claims.

Case Study 1

A group of companies in the concrete manufacturing space with a total payroll of approx. $22m had one subsidiary that was on the wrong levy code. We did a review on the group, made a number of recommendations in the claim space, and suggested that the levy code needed to be changed for one of the subsidiaries.

The client agreed for us to work our magic so we got stuck in.

Fast forward 6 weeks and the client has credits applied to this specific account of over $60,000. ACC agreed with us and backdated the changes to the 2011 /12 financial year.

Case Study 2

A group of companies in the commercial construction space. Their total payroll is approx. $21m and one of the entities was not grouped for Experience Rating. Please note this company has one of the best claims profiles we have ever come across and in 2022 is enjoying a 40% saving on their ACC levies, and in 2023 will enjoy the maximum of 50% discount. Yes, they will be paying half the levies their competitors are!

One of the companies was not grouped for Experience Rating purposes which we did not agree with. This meant that this entity did not have the same Experience Rating discount as the others.

The client was happy for us to challenge ACC on this and subsequently ACC has applied the Grouping Rule and backdated this to 2016 which is when this company was incorporated. This is not that common given the complexities involved for ACC in retrospectively backdating Experience Rating Grouping.

The saving was over $80,000!

From our perspective, this fits our mantra of making sure businesses are treated fairly and equitably by Government. We prefer to have the money sitting in your bank account rather than a Government Crown Agency!
