How to lower your ACC levies - Case Study 1

Over the next few weeks we share with you a number of ways you can lower your ACC levies. This post is about dealing with a claim that was lodged after the worker left employment. We share an actual case study.

Claim overturned

The employee had lodged a claim for an injury post being terminated from employment.

Please note that even if the employee has been let go, they can still lodge a workplace claim and ACC will accept it up to 365 days post employment.

A review was lodged on the basis that the injury couldn’t have happened at work in the manner the worker said for it to have occured.

A fun review where we juggled a lot of information at the same time, utilising Google Maps, GPS data, social media, and various websites.

Within this review we were able to identify times where the injury was alleged to have occurred, but were outside of working hours or on an unpaid lunch break.

We were also able to clearly point out contradictions in the evidence provided by the employee.

Full claim and all costs removed from the employer.

We are talking about thousands of dollars saved on this employers ACC levies, not for one year, but three years.

That, and we removed a massive frustration for the employer.

It’s what we do.
